The SDO® (Sensory Dynamic Orthosis) collection of dynamic Lycra® compression garments, designed and created by Medigarments Ltd, provides therapeutic value to patients with a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. To give clinicians a fuller understanding of the SDO collection and equip them with the knowledge required to assess patients and measure them for a garment, we offer a range of specialist training courses.
We are now taking bookings for our SDO Dynamic Lycra® courses which will take place in 2023. This edition of our blog details the Level 2 course, which will be delivered by one of our highly-experienced clinicians, and will take place on April 19th 2023.
The intensive course is delivered over one full day and will cover all aspects of the SDO collection, including clinical theory, prescription methods, case studies and details of measuring patients for bespoke SDO garments. Course attendees will develop a complete understanding of how dynamic Lycra is used as a clinical tool in rehabilitation and will subsequently be able to implement their new skills in their own clinical settings.
The day begins promptly at 9am. After registration, attendees will be welcomed with an introduction to Medigarments Ltd and given an overview of how the day will progress. Next will follow detailed information about the SDO Lite collection along with evidence-backed benefits of dynamic compression.
After a brief break for refreshments, we will look at some SDO case studies, prescription overviews and clinical applications for both children and adults.
Following lunch, the course will concentrate on the process of measuring patients for SDO garments; attendees will receive a course manual and reference book. We will also be looking at SDO measurement forms, including special measures, considerations and formats. We will also focus on reinforcement panels and design implications.
Following a second refreshment break, attendees will work in pairs to begin implementing the measurement skills they have learned under full supervision of our clinician. There will then be the opportunity for group discussion and a question-and-answer session. The day will conclude with a detailed summary and evaluation, along with the making of arrangements for Level 3 study.
The course, including lunch and refreshments, is provided absolutely free of charge with compliments of Medigarments Ltd. Places are limited so please book at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. Further details are available on our website.
